By now, we all know about the Google Doodle.*

But did you know about Google's Christmas easter egg?

Try doing a search with "Christmas" as main thrust of your search. The halls of your results will be decked in green and red, complete with a colorful holiday scene of a gingerbread house, candles and a plate of cookies and glass of milk (for Santa, of course).

Not every search with "Christmas" in it yields the theme, but a lot do. Like "Christmas tree," "Christmas lights," "12 days of Christmas" and "Christmas shopping." Explore for yourself to see what you can get to come up with the theme.

But Google hasn't forgotten about the other holidays in December.

There's also ones for Hanukkah ...

(It even works with "Chanukah" if that's what you prefer.)

and Kwanzaa ...

and, oh, Google hasn't forgotten you "Seinfeld" fans out there. Of course there's a festivus pole:

You can add the holiday Google themes to the many other Google easter eggs (like typing "do a barrel roll" or "askew") that are out there.

Try it.

* For those who just arrived on the planet, The Google Doodle is that cartoony version of the engine's logo they toss out for special occasions. (Sometimes, it's even interactive.)
